Hilton made Conrad Tulum all-inclusive on October 1, along with Waldorf Astoria Riviera Maya, which, from January 10, will register only guests aged 18 and older.
Both resorts sit on the Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo. Neither brand had ever sold a stay this way.
On a coast where the inclusive rate has long been the domain of large family resorts, that is a change in who the format is for. Two of Hilton's most expensive names are now selling the same convenience, and selling it to guests who want a week that asks them to decide almost nothing.
A format neither luxury brand had run before
Hilton published the announcement on October 1 and framed it as an expansion of an all-inclusive portfolio it has been assembling for years. Waldorf Astoria runs 40 hotels worldwide. Conrad, with 51 properties across five continents, is the largest luxury brand in the group. Until this month, neither had operated a resort on a fully inclusive rate anywhere.
Sylvia Scholey, Hilton's vice president and global head of all-inclusive and resorts, said the two properties give guests
"a more personal way to stay, dine and explore the local culture"
carried by the service the company is known for. Travelers now want the ease of an inclusive stay, she said, without giving up the personalization and sense of place they expect from a luxury brand. The company's reading of its own market is unsentimental. Guests at this price point want fewer decisions, not fewer choices, and they will pay to have the bill settled before they arrive.

Every guest gets a concierge, and families get a deadline
The 173-room Waldorf Astoria Riviera Maya opened in November 2022 and now offers a single rate that covers the restaurants, programming, and the service that wraps around both. Each guest is assigned a Personal Concierge who plans the stay before arrival and then handles restaurant bookings, wellness appointments, transportation, excursions, and celebrations on-property.
The programming is sorted into five collections: Restore, Discover, Indulge, Gather and Celebrate, and the day moves through them. Mornings open with oceanfront yoga, Maya breathwork, or sound healing. Afternoons turn to Riviera Watercolors, traditional textiles, Maya clay, agave craft or margarita mixology. Evenings bring live strings, bossa nova, Sunlit Sounds and Spritz, and a session the resort calls Rum and Smoke.

Eligible stays of four consecutive nights or more carry one selected resort experience or one excursion per stay.
The rate also covers 24-hour room service, a minibar restocked daily to the guest's taste, welcome amenities, poolside attention and private round-trip transfers from Cancún International Airport on eligible direct bookings.
Then comes January 10. From that date, the resort registers only guests 18 and older. Existing reservations hold to the terms under which they were booked, with one exception: bookings that include a guest under 18 and arrive on or after that day. Hilton says the resort will work with those guests individually to find alternative accommodation.
Malpeque's fire show and a cart of Mexican cheeses
Food is where the Waldorf's case for the format is strongest, and the inclusive rate is built around it.
Malpeque runs a fire-driven culinary show with a Mexican cheese cart, tableside carving and salt tastings. Chaya serves a Mesa de Maíz, seasonal paletas and a Mexican dessert cart. JA'O takes the agave side, with a Margarita Cart and a tortilla made the ancestral way. Peacock Alley keeps breakfast and a mid-afternoon tea in the Waldorf tradition. BonbonOm, a room given over to Mexican coffee through tastings, masterclasses and cold brew, is still to open.
Some nights the resort stages Mesa Abierta, a collaborative dinner built on local ingredients and the chefs cooking that evening, served in the oceanfront setting.

Inside the Conrad Tulum all-inclusive rate
Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya opened in January 2022 with 349 rooms and suites on a sheltered bay ringed by jungle and mangrove, on a site it shares with Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya All-Inclusive Resort. It stays open to every generation.
Its restaurants read like a small town rather than a hotel. Maratea cooks Mediterranean plates to share. Ukai is Japanese. Kengai runs live teppanyaki. Ultramar builds its cocktails on Mexican spirits. Chiringuito Crudo takes the coastal raw bar approach, while Chiringuito Leña cooks over fire.
The rate carries 24-hour room service, minibar restocking, concierge attention and private round-trip transfers from both Cancún and Tulum international airports on eligible direct bookings. Reservations already on the books stand on the plan and terms confirmed when they were made.

Autor joins the adults-only rate
Ceiba Club is Conrad's answer for guests who want quiet without having to book a separate resort to get it.
The section opens to registered guests 18 and older and includes dinners at Autor, the contemporary Mexican restaurant Hilton describes as Michelin-recognized, whose kitchen explores the evolution of Mexican cooking through current techniques. Ceiba Lounge and Carbon Restaurant, Pool, and Beach share the same access.
MYTHOS World, the Explorer Kit and a night under the stars
The youngest guests get a program of their own. MYTHOS World, included in the stay, offers age-sorted activities drawn from the region's nature and contemporary Maya storytelling, with an Explorer Kit and a nighttime session called The Stargazer. Parents get the hours back.
For everyone else, the resort organizes five collections: Awaken, Explore, Escape, Golden Hour and After Dark. Tulum After Dark, The Living Spirit of Tulum, and Full Moon Celebration are the evenings the hotel leads with, built around music, local stories, and the hours after sunset.
Four-night stays here also include one experience or excursion. Hilton lists the Vesica cenote, a family visit to the Xel-Há water park and a spa session among the options.
Kimpton and Hyatt are chasing the same guest
Hilton is not moving into this alone. IHG opened Kimpton Tres Rios between Cancún and Playa del Carmen this year, the first all-inclusive in that brand's history, and Hyatt expects to open the Grand Hyatt Cancún Beach Resort as a fully inclusive property in December. The top of the Riviera Maya market is converging on a single product, and Hilton has now placed its two strongest names within it.
For anyone holding a Waldorf Astoria booking with a child's name on it, January 10 is the date that matters. Until then, the resort still takes families, and after it, the Conrad, with its bay, its kids club and its adults-only wing, is where Hilton will point them.
