Tulum Innovation Fest takes over IKAL Arena from December 9 to 12, with a program the organizers plan to extend beyond the venue into hotels, restaurants, and community spaces around town.

The event is produced by LIKE GROUP! MANAGEMENT and announced as Tulum Innovation Fest 2026, Loved by TCF. It grew out of Tulum Crypto Club and Tulum Crypto Fest, the community that spent several seasons running digital asset gatherings here.

Those four days fall in the first half of December, ahead of the holiday weeks, and they bring a business audience into town at a moment when the calendar usually falls quiet. Hotels, restaurants and wellness spaces are invited in as hosts, not only as the places where visitors sleep and eat.

What Tulum Innovation Fest kept from the crypto years

The 2026 edition keeps the shape Tulum Crypto Fest built, talks alongside beach, wellness, and music, and broadens the subject matter well beyond digital assets. The published themes include artificial intelligence, alternative payment systems, embedded finance, new models of ownership, future cities, regeneration, longevity and entrepreneurship.

Conferences, workshops and longer closed sessions will address how those changes affect companies, small businesses and daily life, according to the organizers. The audience they describe is a mix of founders, investors, business owners, technologists, artists and institutional guests, with activity running from early morning into the night and, on some days, until sunrise.

Whale Tank is the startup track. It prepares founders, puts them in front of mentors and investors, and culminates on the closing day.

On its public event listing, the organizers name the gatherings they are modeling the format on, including LABITCONF, the Ibiza Tech Forum, and BITBASEL. Access is sold there as a four-day pass.

Four days, from a welcome cocktail to a Whale Tank final

Wednesday, December 9, opens with arrivals, community meetups, a welcome cocktail and the first night of music.

Thursday is the fullest day on paper. Wellness in the morning, then conferences, panels, workshops, and working sessions, followed in the evening by private meetings, dinners, the gala planned as part of the program, and music.

Friday belongs to capital. Founders and investors meet, the talks turn to artificial intelligence, new economies and company building, and at night the festival leaves its main venue for La Veleta, the neighborhood of small restaurants and businesses on the south side of town.

Saturday, December 12, closes with wellness and recovery sessions, beach activations, the Whale Tank final, an awards presentation, and a party with art and DJs. Motto by Hilton Tulum joins as the venue tied to Whale Tank, hosting participants of that program at the 115-room hotel in the Hunab center on Avenida Cobá.

Close to 400 DJs answered the open call

The festival's music open call drew close to 400 applications from DJs, according to the organization. It is the clearest sign so far of how much of the regional scene wants a slot.

Four nights are built around music, and the organizers describe a range that moves from the party to the ceremonial, with art and DJ sets closing the festival on Saturday. Behind the electronic scene, they place composition, sound design, digital tools and an industry that already ties production, hospitality and creative work together in Tulum.

Hotels, restaurants and wellness studios join the venue map

The organizers call the format an Innovation Pop-Up City, a network of venues, hosts and experiences spread across Tulum so that conversations continue between the beach, the hotels and the restaurants. On the festival's public ticketing listing, the same idea appears under the name Tulum Innovation City, described as a citywide commerce network that invites hotels, restaurants, wellness centers, and coworking spaces to take part and accept payments by card, bank transfer, cash where applicable, and several cryptocurrencies.

That is the part with the most direct reach for local businesses. A restaurant in La Veleta or a wellness studio off Avenida Cobá can be included on the festival map for four days rather than wait for spillover.

Sponsors and partners are contributing to content, technology, hospitality, production, culture and communication, the organizers say. Their participation, in the organizers' description, is what allows the programs to run and widens the room for companies and communities to meet.

The lineup and partner list arrive with the final program

Times, participants and access will be detailed in the final program, and the full list of brands, media outlets and organizations will be published as the agreements close, according to the organizers. Both are expected before the opening.

The organizers also describe what should be left once the festival ends. Startups better prepared. Companies that found partners, artists with wider contacts, businesses that picked up tools they can use.

Doors open on Wednesday, December 9, at IKAL Arena, and the four days run through the closing party on Saturday night.
