Damian Lazarus revealed the full lineup for Day Zero Tulum 2027 on Thursday, naming 30 artists across three stages for the January 9 edition and holding one guest back for a later announcement.
The edition is billed as Begin Again and will be the thirteenth staged in the jungle outside Tulum since Day Zero started in 2012 around the close of the Maya calendar. The night runs from sunset through to Lazarus' set at sunrise.
January 9 falls on a Saturday, at the point in the calendar when Tulum hotels expect their strongest weeks. General-release tickets go on sale August 25, which makes this lineup reveal a booking signal months ahead of the season.
Thirty names on the bill, and one still withheld
The international side is led by Keinemusik's &ME, Brazilian producer Vintage Culture, Tiga, New York's Victor Calderone, Maccabi House co-founder Mita Gami, Mellow Circus founder Brunello, and LP Giobbi. Announcing the bill on Instagram, Lazarus called the curation "uncompromising" and said one more name is still to come.

The spread is deliberate. Vintage Culture fills arenas. RPR Soundsystem builds sets on restraint and repetition for audiences that count their sets in hours. Putting both on the same grounds in one night is the curatorial habit Lazarus has repeated since the first edition.
El Teatro returns for Mexico's underground
El Teatro, the stage the festival reserves for Mexican artists, returns with Midnight Generation, the electronic-funk outfit from Chihuahua, house producer KinAhau, the Tijuana duo Soul of Hex, and Secret Echoes, the Crosstown Rebels supergroup of Metrika, Estefani Brolo, and Balcazar, playing live.
The stage continues with BadWolf, Antaares from Mexico City, Johnny Chief, Katana, and the Tulum selector Jawar. With LUM on the main bill, that puts two artists working out of this town on a lineup drawn from four continents.
By the organizers' account, Day Zero was the first international festival in Mexico to hand an entire stage to Mexican artists.
Sargassum blocks and plastic turned into fuel
Crosstown Consciousness, the festival's community and environmental arm, funds work that outlasts the single night. Its projects include solar-powered streetlights in Dos Ojos, turtle conservation along the Tulum coastline, beach cleanups, and the restoration of educational buildings using blocks made from sargassum, the same seaweed the hotel sector has been paying to haul off the beach all year.
Since 2022, the festival has partnered with the Mexican company PETGAS to convert on-site plastic waste into biodegradable fuel that powers festival infrastructure. Single-use plastics are banned across the grounds.
The festival also works with local Maya leaders to incorporate traditional ceremony into the night, a practice it says it has kept since the first edition.
Day Zero has traveled since then. The brand staged its first Brazilian edition in January 2026 and debuted in Bali in April, after an edition near the Dead Sea in Israel in 2019. Tulum remains the original site.
Hotels are counting on January after a summer near 20%
The announcement comes at a hard time for the destination. Tulum averaged 69.88% hotel occupancy between January and May 2026, according to figures from the Quintana Roo tourism information system, SITUR-Q, down from 76.86% across the same months of 2025. The statewide average fell 1.42 points over the same period, so Tulum's decline ran several times deeper than the state's.
David Ortiz Mena, president of the Tulum Hotel Association and of the Consejo Hotelero del Caribe Mexicano, told local media that May, June, and July held occupancy levels of around 20%, and that some hotels are shifting to seasonal operation rather than carry payroll, power, and maintenance through the emptiest weeks. He expects the market to turn in the second half of October.
One Saturday does not reverse a year like that. It does put a dated, sellable weekend on the calendar for hotels, restaurants, and transport operators. The festival's first ticket release, sold under the Tickets of Trust name, went out before a single artist had been announced and is already gone.
Tickets for Day Zero Tulum 2027 open August 25
General release goes live on Tuesday, August 25, with registration for the release open on the festival's own site. The event is 18 and over and runs on a single night rather than over a weekend, which has historically pushed attendees to book accommodation on both sides of the date.
The open question is the name Lazarus is holding. He has said one more guest is coming and has not attached a date to the reveal. Until he does, the bill stands at 30 artists, three stages, and one blank line.
