In an unprecedented logistical deployment for the region, the Fixed-Base Operator facility at the Tulum International Airport will be adapted to host a temporary racing oval for the NASCAR Mexico Series and the Tulum Air Show on April 25 and 26.
The integration of elite motorsport infrastructure and Mexican Air Force aerial maneuvers will project Tulum to an audience of over 18 million viewers across 17 Latin American countries. This event marks a critical milestone for the destination's capacity to organize and host high-complexity international sporting events.
The core of the project involves constructing a 600-meter racing oval engineered to meet rigorous international safety specifications within the NASCAR operational ecosystem. The infrastructure development requires three distinct phases to ensure precision and compliance.
The first phase entails manufacturing high-resistance concrete segments and is currently 90 percent complete. Each segment weighs four tons and measures one meter high by four meters wide, forming the track's primary barrier.
The physical assembly of the circuit represents the second phase and is scheduled to begin next Monday. Mario Ruisánchez, who directs the construction, confirmed the project remains on track.
"We calculate that everything will be ready by the beginning of competition week, given that everything is developing according to the stipulated schedule," Ruisánchez stated.
The final structural phase will involve the installation of cyclone fencing reinforced with steel cables, a mandatory safety protocol to protect spectators and personnel.

It aims to gather top-tier national drivers alongside emerging talents seeking international exposure. Operating under the NASCAR system guarantees that world-class regulations govern the logistics, safety protocols, and overall operations.

With comprehensive television, digital, and radio broadcast coverage spanning audiences in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Panama, and Peru, the event acts as a significant promotional mechanism. It demonstrates Tulum's ongoing evolution from a boutique tourism hub into a location equipped to manage large-scale, technically demanding mega-events.
