The various tourist destinations in the Yucatan Peninsula are typically visited by people from different parts of the world during the Easter holiday or Holy Week.

Among these tourists, personalities from different fields in other countries often arrive, who upon arrival here are not easily recognized. Such is the case of Victoria de Marichalar y Borbón, a member of the Spanish royalty, who decided to spend this vacation season in the Riviera Maya.

The niece of King Felipe VI arrived in Quintana Roo accompanied by a friend, Rocío Laffón Molina, to stay at one of the luxurious all-inclusive hotels in that state, from where she has shared some photographs of her stay. The young woman arrived in Cancun last Monday, from where she has moved to different points on the Peninsula.

Thus, her vacation has also included Playa del Carmen, the Aktun Chen cenote in Akumal, the Chichen Itza archaeological zone, and the Zazil Tunich cenote in Yucatan. According to the latest photographs shared by Rocío, they are currently in Tulum, where they have enjoyed spectacular sunrises, as well as Mexican cuisine, of which they have tasted cochinita tacos and ceviche.

Who is Victoria de Marichalar?

Victoria Federica de Todos los Santos is the second daughter of Infanta Elena of Bourbon and Greece and Jaime de Marichalar, granddaughter of the emeritus kings of Spain, Juan Carlos I and Sophia of Greece. On her father’s side, she is the granddaughter of the military and aristocrat Amalio de Marichalar y Bruguera.

The 22-year-old is fifth in line to the Spanish throne, after her cousins Leonor and Sofia of Bourbon, her mother, and her brother Felipe Juan Froilán.

The Yucatan Peninsula is a region in southeastern Mexico that encompasses the states of Yucatan, Campeche, and Quintana Roo. It is a popular tourist destination due to its diverse attractions such as ancient Mayan ruins, pristine beaches, and natural wonders like cenotes, which are underground sinkholes filled with crystal-clear water.
