Tulum Rises in Harmony with Awarë’s Beats

TULUM, Mexico – In a vibrant showcase of solidarity and cultural celebration, Tulum’s local businesses, foundations, artists, and the community are joining forces to host a musical festival on Saturday, April 6th, featuring the renowned group Awarë. This event, a testament to Tulum’s spirit of communal welfare and sustainability, aims to funnel the proceeds into social and sustainable causes.

Alexis de Aldecoa Morales, the General Director of the environmental consultancy Eukariota, elucidates the concert’s purpose: to gather funds for social causes that will benefit Tulum. The concert, slated to occur at the Unidad Deportiva de Tulum from 5 PM to 9 PM, charges an entry fee of 750 pesos per attendee. The funds raised will be directed towards two organizations: Eukariota, through its civil association Reverdece, and Los Amigos de la Esquina (LAdLE).

Reverdece, a newly founded initiative, commits to regenerating and restoring social fabric in residential areas and championing the cause of sustainable cities. It plans to foster neighborhood engagement through free, certified environmental management training by the Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) and recreational activities such as Zumba, outdoor cinema, and capoeira, among other gatherings.

Further initiatives include cleaning or reclaiming public spaces and linking these neighborhoods to existing recycling points, promoting participation in recycling processes and waste reduction. Morales highlights the commitment and desire to “balance the energy of giving and receiving the abundance and generosity that Tulum offers, showcasing a united community.”

Morales adds, “This event was conceived from the need to regenerate and honor Tulum, a sacred place that is sensitive, empathetic, and requires community work. The aim is to foster a Tulum characterized by well-being, unity, and fraternity.”
