National Guard deploys an operation in the Tulum National Park
More than 50 members of the National Guard participated in an operation on the beaches of Tulum National Park, where they toured the coastline and met with tourism service providers, in order to provide and publicize the permanent security that will be in place in the area.
Gabriel Bautista Tapia, inspector colonel in charge of the National Guard personnel in Tulum National Park, which is part of the Jaguar National Park, explained that their motive and mission is to maintain order, security and tranquility for visitors and those who work in the area.
He indicated that this is not the first time they have carried out this proximity and will continue to do so by means of pedestrian and ATV patrols on the beaches, and added that this vigilance also extends to the archaeological zone of Tulum.
“The presence of the National Guard here is to fulfill one of the functions of this institution, which is precisely to ensure public safety and the instruction we have specifically in the national park is to preserve order, tranquility and safety of all visitors who come to this place,” he said.
He mentioned that they are watching for activities against the law, such as the illegal sale of alcohol, street vending and drug dealing. “Our function is to preserve order, security and tranquility, this is the mandate given to us by the President of the Republic”, he said.
He said that this tour from Mezzanine Beach to Santa Fe, with more than 50 elements, was a reminder to make it clear that the presence of the National Guard is indefinite, due to the creation of the Jaguar National Park, which has already been announced by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as a site for preservation and conservation at all levels.
Antonio Rodriguez, president of the surveillance of the cooperative Dorados de Playa Maya, declared that the presence of the elements provides tranquility for the bathers and also so that the service providers can carry out their activities calmly.
