Gateway to the Yucatan: Cancun-Merida-Tulum Artery Expansion Greenlit for Improved Access

After President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s visit over the weekend of May 5th, the Governor has announced plans to expand the city’s bypass 180. Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has stated that this project has received approval from AMLO and is deemed crucial for enhancing mobility and connectivity between the northern and southern parts of the state.

Governor Lezama has confirmed the expansion of bypass 180-D, the thoroughfare that links the Cancun-Mérida highways with the Cancun-Tulum highway. She elucidated that this roadway holds immense significance as it runs adjacent to the Cancun International Airport and the new Maya Train station. The expansion will encompass a complete section of the road, broadening it to four lanes while incorporating two road distributors, a central median, lighting, and shoulders.

This recent undertaking joins a long list of noteworthy investments, exceeding a sum of 45 billion pesos, which have been allocated to various projects such as the Maya Train, Tulum International Airport, Nichupté Lagoon Bridge, the enhancement of Colosio Avenue, and the expansion of Chac Mool Avenue, among others.
