TULUM, México – In his second day of the southeastern Mexico work tour, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was joined by Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama (Morena) and Defense Secretary General Luis Cresencio Sandoval González.

Governor Mara Lezama took to her social media to announce, “We are accompanying our president, @lopezobrador_, to supervise the ongoing construction progress of Tulum’s new international airport, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, which has already surpassed 55% completion.”

In a momentous occasion, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, alongside Governor Mara Lezama and Defense Secretary General Luis Cresencio Sandoval González, made their way to the construction site of Tulum’s highly anticipated international airport, Felipe Carrillo Puerto. With the project already 55% complete, the leaders assessed the progress of this crucial infrastructure development in the heart of Quintana Roo.

Governor Lezama, a staunch advocate of the airport’s construction, praised the ongoing efforts, calling it a significant milestone for the region’s economic growth and tourism industry. The new airport is poised to serve as a key gateway for international travelers, further solidifying Tulum’s position as one of Mexico’s premier tourist destinations.

The President’s presence at the site underlines the government’s commitment to fostering regional development and improving connectivity within Mexico’s southeastern states. Amidst the scenic beauty of Tulum’s lush landscapes and pristine beaches, the visionary project aims to strike a balance between modern infrastructure and environmental conservation.

With sustainability as a top priority, authorities have implemented rigorous measures to ensure minimal ecological impact during the construction process. The airport’s design seamlessly blends with the natural surroundings, reflecting a harmonious union of progress and preservation.

The Felipe Carrillo Puerto Airport project has been a collaborative effort between federal and state authorities, seeking to boost local employment and provide new economic opportunities for the region’s inhabitants. It comes as part of President López Obrador’s broader initiative to bolster Mexico’s infrastructure and foster equitable development across the country.

As the construction progresses, excitement and anticipation continue to grow among locals and tourists alike. The airport’s completion is expected to herald a new era of prosperity for Tulum, attracting more tourists, businesses, and investments to the area.
