Tulum to host 14th Sustainable Tourism Expo with participation of global brands

Tulum will host the 14th edition of the Sustainable Tourism Expo on September 10th and 11th, with the participation of 40 world-renowned companies. The event will take place at the Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa hotel and aims to promote and utilize environmental technologies and bio-architecture within the tourism sector. The event will showcase the use of environmental technologies, social and productive projects, bio-architecture, natural materials, and many other topics from 40 large, medium, and small companies that will be part of an innovative exhibition floor.

Gilda Sigie, founder of the Sustainable Tourism Expo, stated that with the support of organizations and chambers, Tulum has positioned itself as the Sustainable Suppliers Forum for the tourism and real estate sectors.

Authorities from the three levels of government met in Tulum to guide territorial planning towards social, environmental, and economic sustainability in Tulum and Felipe Carrillo. The meeting was attended by the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources, the Secretariat of Ecology and Environment (Sema), the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development, and the municipalities of Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Tulum.

Huguette Hernández, Secretary of Ecology and Environment of Quintana Roo, highlighted that Sema promotes sustainable development through ecological planning instruments, ensuring the integrity and complementarity with other planning instruments. The authorities agreed to work on the Local Ecological Planning Program and the update of the Urban Development Program to guarantee planning instruments to citizens. This will guide land use and agricultural, forestry, fishing, environmental conservation, and human settlements activities for the benefit of Quintana Roo’s citizens and the environment.
