POC Na Beach Club Hotel accused of environmental damages

A search warrant was served by personnel from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Federal Attorney General’s Office for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA), with the support of the National Guard (GN), at the property called POC Na Beach Club, located in the Tulum National Park, for alleged crimes related to damage to biodiversity and the environment.

Agents from the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF), the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), official experts in architecture, biodiversity, photography and field forensics, as well as members of the Quintana Roo State Police, with the support of the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas, also participated in the operation.

During the operation, damage was found on the coastal dune of Chi palms, which is protected under NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010. For this reason, the property was secured; no arrests were made.

The site was secured by the Attorney General’s Office and the National Guard will maintain surveillance within and in the vicinity of this Natural Protected Area (NPA).
