Authorities raid properties in Tulum for environmental damage

The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR), in its Quintana Roo Delegation, carried out the execution of two investigative techniques granted by the Specialized District Judge in the Accusatory Penal System of this federal entity, consisting of a search and seizure.

The Public Ministry of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR), in collaboration with the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), personnel from the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection, in coordination with elements of the National Guard and personnel from Forensic Services of the institution, carried out two search and seizure operations in Quintana Roo.

The first one was carried out in Tulum, on the Tulum-Chetumal Federal Highway, due to the opening of the file for the crime against biodiversity, following the receipt of a complaint from PROFEPA personnel, in which vegetation removal was observed, as well as the foundation of stone material, a movable construction, and the clearing of the Chi palm species, protected by SEMARNAT. The Central Maderas Project was intended to be carried out on the property.

Meanwhile, the second search and seizure operation was carried out in the Cancun Hotel Zone, between kilometer 6.5, for the crime of biodiversity, in which a change of land use and vegetation removal was observed, with plans to build a pharmacy and a bar.

In both properties, the corresponding seals were affixed, and they were guarded. The integration of the file will continue in order to prosecute the probable responsible parties.
