Tulum Welcomes Its First US International Flight via American Airlines

TULUM, Mexico – This week marks a significant milestone for Tulum and the broader Quintana Roo region as the “Felipe Carrillo Puerto” International Airport welcomes its first international flights from four major United States cities: Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, and Miami. Governor Mara Lezama has spotlighted this development, emphasizing these new connections’ crucial role in bridging cultures and economies.

Delta and American Airlines, two of the world’s leading carriers, are pioneering these routes, promising an infusion of tourists and boosting local commerce. The inaugural flights, particularly noted on Thursday, March 28, saw American Airlines operating four scheduled flights throughout the day. Remarkably, each aircraft was at total capacity, averaging 600 passengers.

This aviation expansion is not merely a logistical achievement but a cultural bridge. Over 6,160 passengers each week will now have the chance to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Mayan culture and tradition and the exquisite natural beauty of Mexico’s Caribbean heartland. Governor Lezama, accompanied by municipal and aviation authorities, shared her enthusiasm for these flights, which promise to enrich the visitor experience in the heart of the Mayan zone.
