Expomar 2024 Takes Tulum on Nautical Journey

TULUM, Mexico – Tulum’s coastal town is hosting Expomar 2024, a remarkable event initiated by the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) to foster community engagement and enhance public understanding of the Navy’s pivotal roles and responsibilities. This unique exposition, which runs from March 19th to 28th, is set against the scenic backdrop of the Park Museum of Mayan Culture, offering an immersive experience from 9 AM to 6:30 PM daily.

Expomar 2024 stands out as a dynamic platform for interaction between the Navy and the local community, featuring an array of 20 informative and interactive modules. According to Rear Admiral Edgar Hunda Pomposo, the event encapsulates a significant community outreach effort designed to involve citizens directly in understanding and participating in naval activities. The exposition covers a broad spectrum of naval expertise, from the intricacies of maritime units, infantry maneuvers, and search and rescue operations to specialized areas like meteorology, oceanography, naval communication, and healthcare.

A distinctive aspect of Expomar 2024 is its emphasis on engaging activities that invite public participation. Attendees can explore diverse topics among the 14 informational and six interactive modules, including maritime operations, explosive ordnance disposal, and naval training centers. Interactive experiences such as knot-tying workshops, a children’s area, helicopter displays, zip-lining, and a miniature track offer families an engaging way to learn about naval operations. Additionally, a scale model of the Cuauhtémoc Training Ship provides a tangible connection to Mexico’s rich maritime heritage.

The event is supported by 40 members of the federal corporation, who are dedicated to promoting the values of patriotism and raising awareness among children and young people about the significance of security in nation-building. The Navy’s commitment to this cause is further demonstrated by offering free admission to all activities, ensuring the event is accessible to people of all ages.
