Tulum Hotel receives distinction in tourist gala in Paris
The Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced that two Mexican hotels: Azulik Tulum and Sofitel Mexico City, received awards at the 20th edition of the “Prix Villégiature 2022” awards held at the Residence of the Mexican Embassy in France, in the city of Paris.
In a press release, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) indicated that these awards are given to the best hotels in the world, in 20 categories, and highlighted that 11 lodging centers in Mexico were nominated in different categories, making it the second country with the most nominations after France, even though it was the first time Mexico competed for this recognition.
The presentation of the Prix Villégiature 2022 was led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to France and the Principality of Monaco, Blanca E. Jiménez Cisneros, who highlighted the wide range of tourist attractions that Mexico offers to international visitors, and congratulated the award-winning hotels, as well as those that were recognized.
Mexican hotels are among the best in the world in different categories.
The hotels that received their awards at this ceremony were the Azulik Tulum hotel, in the Best Artistic Universe category; while the Sofitel Mexico City hotel was awarded in the Best Interior Design and Architecture category.
The text highlighted that most of the Mexican hotels nominated were proposed by the Mexican Embassy in France. This was based on the Sectur’s premium tourism quality program, “Treasures of Mexico”.
The main purpose of this program is to promote the excellence of hotels and restaurants whose high standards of service, architectural and gastronomic features reflect and promote the richness of Mexican culture.
22 world journalists as judges for Prix Villégiature 2022
The jury for the Prix Villégiature Awards 2022 was made up of 22 journalists from around the world, high-class tourism specialists; and the awards ceremony was attended by top executives and owners of the best and most prestigious hotels in the world, as well as the full jury and members of the diplomatic corps, in addition to journalists, businessmen and artists.
The Mexican hotels nominated in eight categories of the Prix Villégiature Awards 2022 were: Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, in the Best Hotel category; Hacienda de San Antonio, in Comala, Colima, Best Resort; Sofitel Reforma Mexico City, Hotel la Purificadora, in Puebla, and Hotel Boutique 1850, in Guanajuato, Best Hotel Design and Architecture; Live Aqua Urban Resort San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.
Also, Best Hotel Pool; Hotel Santa Rita Zacatecas and Azulik Tulum, Best Hotel Artistic Universe; Hotel el Molino de los Reyes, in Quiahuixtlán, Tlaxcala, Best Hotel Breakfast; The Grand at Moon Palace, in Cancún, Quintana Roo, Best Hotel for Children; and Casa del Alma Hotel Boutique & Spa, San Cristóbal de las Casas, Best Hotel Creativity.
The Secretary of Tourism acknowledged the work of the Mexican Embassy in France, as part of its commitment to the promotion of our country’s tourism abroad, whose actions are reflected in the arrival of more international tourists to our country with a high level of spending, who seek to enjoy the wide range of luxury tourism that Mexico offers, and which translates into increased foreign exchange earnings from tourism.
