With the support of the Federal Ministry of Tourism and the Mexican Embassy in Germany, the new promotional video of Tulum 2023 was presented at the Berlin International Tourism Fair (ITB), an event taking place from March 7 to 9 in the German capital.
Mario Cruz Rodríguez, Tulum’s tourism promoter, stated that this promotional material has the purpose of reinforcing the destination’s tourism promotion with the European market, but specifically with Germany. He emphasized that Germany is a very important issuing country for tourism in the Riviera Maya and the Mexican Caribbean.
He added that it is for this reason that through its platform Maxico Tulum, with its representatives in Germany, they are doing an excellent job, having several meetings and especially with the video presented, where before the problem of sargasso, they are promoting other natural and tourist sites that this tourist pole offers.
“In reality the sargassum has not been a reason to generate a massive cancellation of our tourists, it does indeed generate discomfort, of course the tourists who are already in our destination have expressed discomfort because of the discomfort of entering the beach and dealing with the sargassum, especially the smells, which are not pleasant, but finally it has not generated a massive cancellation,” he said.
Cruz Rodríguez emphasized that Tulum is more than just a sun and beach segment, since it is a destination of culture, archeological zones, cenotes and caverns, and these are the options, and it is precisely through the agencies that this information is made available to them, so that through their clients they can let them know that by coming to our destination they have a great variety of options to visit.
For her part, Carla Patricia Andrade Piedras, executive director of the Tulum Hotel Association (AHT), said that they achieved important rapprochement with international tour operators with whom they agreed to take German tourists to visit the different tourist sites that Tulum has to offer.
He pointed out that this event, which ends this March 9, is resuming after the absence due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. “As always we hope to obtain very good results, increase the number of visitors that come to our destination with the promotional work. We hope that all the work we have been doing in this fair will soon be reflected in numbers for our occupation,” he said.
