TULUM, México – In a recent event held at the Zamna General Secondary School, Tulum’s Mayor Diego Castañón served as a mentor and inspiration for the 450 graduating students. Congratulating them on their achievements, he wished them the utmost success in their future endeavors. With 293 students from the morning session and 157 from the evening session, the mayor encouraged them to pursue their dreams despite any obstacles they may face.
During his address, Mayor Castañón emphasized the crucial role played by parents and teachers in shaping the character and values of the youth. Their guidance and support, he noted, contribute to the formation of responsible and principled individuals who have a clear vision for the future.
Highlighting his commitment to promoting sports in Tulum, Mayor Diego Castañón also took the lead in organizing the State Elimination Round of the 2023 National Popular Games. He expressed his gratitude to Governor Mara Lezama for selecting Tulum as the venue for this crucial stage of the competition. “It is an honor to host so many athletes from various municipalities here in Tulum,” Mayor Castañón remarked with pride.
The National Popular Games aim to encourage sports participation among residents of marginalized areas, fostering healthy interaction and instilling core values among the participants. Through disciplines such as boxing, football, and martial arts, the games strive to combat the high levels of violence and sedentary lifestyle prevalent among our youth.
Mayor Castañón’s involvement in these significant events not only demonstrates his dedication to the community but also underscores his commitment to nurturing the potential of young individuals and promoting a vibrant sports culture in Tulum.
