TULUM, Mexico – The construction of the “Felipe Carrillo Puerto” International Airport in Tulum is making remarkable strides, with a 55% completion rate and a scheduled completion date of December this year.

This significant update was confirmed by Mara Lezama Espinosa, the Governor of Quintana Roo, after an extensive tour of the airport site alongside President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Taking to her Twitter account, Lezama expressed her conviction that such transformative endeavors will continue to drive growth and progress within the region.

“We are collaboratively working with the Mexican Government on new urban and healthcare infrastructure projects that will further catalyze the advancement and prosperity of Quintana Roo, promoting shared success and well-being,” she elaborated.

Furthermore, the Governor shared a series of captivating photographs showcasing the ongoing progress of the fourth International Airport in Quintana Roo, joining the ranks of Cancún, Cozumel, and Chetumal.

Over the weekend, President López Obrador conducted yet another supervisory visit, this time focusing on the advancements of the Tren Maya (Maya Train) and other infrastructure initiatives underway in Quintana Roo.

Among these initiatives is the spectacular 8.5-kilometer panoramic bridge spanning across Nichupté Lagoon, poised to connect Cancún’s city center with the luxurious hotel zone.
