TULUM, México – In recent developments, the President of Tulum, Diego Castañón, has taken a significant step towards resolving the issue of irregular settlements that have been occupied since 2019. With the aim of granting legal certainty to the residents, a collaborative effort involving Governor Mara Lezama, José Alberto Alonso, Director of Agepro Heritage, and the municipal government has been set in motion. This proactive measure is expected to alleviate the concerns of the affected individuals and ensure the regularization of their homes.
During the announcement, it was elucidated that the plots to be regularized have been occupied for the past five years. To expedite the process, the landowner reached an agreement with the Government of Quintana Roo, transferring ownership of these hectares to Agepro. This transfer will facilitate the seamless regularization of the settlements, providing the residents with the much-needed legal security.
Castañón Trejo, the municipal president, addressed the settlers and reassured them that he would serve as an advocate and mediator to ensure a smooth and successful process. “As a municipality, we are here to assist you. Our primary objective has always been to ensure your peace of mind,” he added, emphasizing the commitment of the municipal government to support the residents through this undertaking.
Alonso Ovando, expressing gratitude for the assembly organized to inform the settlers about the commencement of this regularization program, stressed that it would not only grant legal certainty to the land but also bring essential public services. He mentioned that Governor Mara Lezama had instructed the inclusion of these services since last year. “Our aim is to create an environment of tranquility and security. We invite you to approach Agepro’s offices to initiate your regularization process. We are working for you and with you,” concluded President Diego Castañón.
Through this proactive approach, the Tulum municipality is taking significant strides towards addressing the issue of irregular settlements and providing legal certainty to the affected residents. The collaborative efforts of the municipal government, Governor Mara Lezama, and Agepro Heritage demonstrate a commitment to improving the quality of life for the residents, fostering a sense of peace and security in their communities.
