Municipality Launches Fertilizer Distribution Program

TULUM, Quintana Roo – In a move to bolster the agricultural sector in Tulum, the municipal syndic, María Teresa Arana Sánchez, acting on behalf of Mayor Diego Castañón, oversaw the initial distribution of 14 tons of fertilizers to local producers at the Manuel Antonio warehouse. The program aims to provide assistance to more than 1,000 farmers in various communities, including Chanchen, Chanchen Palmar, Hondzonot, Sahcab Mucuy, San Juan, and other towns in the Maya Zone.

This initiative, coordinated by Segalmex in collaboration with Sedarpe and the Municipality, follows a carefully planned schedule. Currently, approximately 200 producers are being supported daily, with an overall goal of reaching 1,000 beneficiaries. Bady Gómez Soberano, the Director of Economics, emphasized the significance of this program, stating, “This is a vital initiative facilitated by President Diego Castañón Trejo, demonstrating our commitment to supporting Tulum’s farmers.”

In addition to providing fertilizers, the program also offers valuable assistance to livestock farmers through the distribution of poultry manure, known as pollinaza, which serves as a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer. Furthermore, maize seeds are being provided to aid local agricultural endeavors.

Expressing her gratitude, the municipal syndic extended appreciation to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Governor Mara Lezama for their continued support. She highlighted the collaborative efforts of the municipal administration, the federal government, and the state government, all working together with a unified objective of assisting those in need and strengthening the local economy.

This strategic move to support the agricultural community in Tulum serves as a testament to the commitment of the local government to foster sustainable development and enhance the livelihoods of farmers in the region.
