It is the only archaeological site in Mexico located on the seashore, which makes it one of the most photogenic places in the country. This Mayan city was built between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, was a reference point for sailors because “El Castillo” one of its buildings was used as a lighthouse, allowing sailors to circumvent the coral reefs.

In addition to “El Castillo”, another must-see is the Temple of the Frescoes, so that you can appreciate the vestiges of paintings in gray and blue tones on its walls.

Already entered in expenses, 40 km northwest of Tulum, is Cobá, a site dating from the year 500 of our time. In its time it was one of the largest and most powerful cities of the Mayan culture. Tulum is also considered a Caribbean paradise thanks to its beaches. Playa Paraiso is considered one of the best in the Riviera Maya, located just 2 km from the archaeological ruins of Tulum. Its name does justice to its soft white sands and deep turquoise blue sea.

Playa Maroma is perfect for horseback riding, swimming with dolphins, kayaking and snorkeling.


Only 10 km from Tulum is this natural space that means “Where the sky is born”. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987 and is the largest protected natural area in the Mexican Caribbean, with more than 500,000 hectares of jungle, coastal dunes, beaches, cenotes, and is home to more than 300 species of birds. It is also home to jaguars, monkeys, wild boars, crocodiles and more. The Chunyaxché channel can be visited by boat.


Tulum has a great variety of cenotes where you can carry out multiple aquatic activities such as snorkeling or scuba diving, or simply relax in its warm waters. Take the tour of the cenotes located on federal highway 307, on the Cancun-Chetumal stretch.
