Copa Airlines Unveils New Tulum Gateway

TULUM, Mexico—Copa Airlines is gearing up to inaugurate a landmark route to the recently opened Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport in Tulum. The airline promises to bring a new wave of international tourists and economic benefits to the region. The introduction of this route is part of a larger strategy to expand its footprint in the vibrant tourism landscape of Quintana Roo.

Starting June 26, the esteemed airline will operate four weekly flights using Boeing 737-800 aircraft and occasionally the larger 737-900, capable of carrying between 160 and 180 passengers from the Hub of the Americas in Panama City. This new connection is expected to bolster tourism not only in Tulum but also in neighboring destinations such as Bacalar and Mahahual.

During the recent Trade Show event, which featured wholesale tour operators from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Colombia, and Chile, Copa Airlines showcased its new Tulum route. Copa transported these operators to meet with hotel representatives from the area, exploring potential synergies and strengthening the tourism sector’s network.

This scenario presents both a challenge and a golden opportunity to enhance the southern part of Quintana Roo as a central tourist hub.

In addition to Tulum, Copa Airlines is launching flights to other destinations in June. Services to Raleigh Durham in North Carolina begin on June 21 with four weekly flights, and Florianópolis in Brazil will see three weekly flights starting June 25.
