TULUM, Mexico – Tulum, already a jewel of the Caribbean, is gearing up for a monumental change in its skies. The recent announcement made by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has set the stage for a transformation in the region’s air travel dynamics. American Airlines is poised to take center stage, stepping into a significant role at the upcoming Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport in Tulum, slated to open its gates this coming December.

Come March 28, American Airlines will lead the operations at this burgeoning airport, offering a remarkable four daily flights. Among these, the most notable are the two daily routes to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), in addition to a daily service to Charlotte (CLT) and Miami (MIA).

The impending inauguration of the “Felipe Carrillo Puerto” International Airport is a crucial milestone, designed to accommodate up to 5.5 million passengers. American Airlines is set to establish connections to 27 different Mexican destinations from the Tulum airport, solidifying its position as the principal American airline operating within the country.

Beyond the significant role of American Airlines, other carriers have confirmed their participation in the Tulum airspace, promising expanded connectivity with destinations such as San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, Tijuana, Aguascalientes, and Guadalajara. These fresh routes are set to fortify the bonds between the Caribbean paradise and an array of spectacular destinations across North America and Mexico.
