“Tulum’s proactive participation in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, Spain, represents a transcendental fact in the national and international tourism scene by betting on a more sustainable and digital tourism,” assured Tulum’s General Director of Tourism and Economy, Jorge Molina.
“On the second day of #fitur2023 it was a pleasure to greet Almudena Maíllo, Councilwoman Delegate of Tourism of the City of Madrid and Secretary General of the Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities to invite her to visit the capital of the Mayan Caribbean; Tulum, as well as to send her a recognition from President #MDC for her leadership in the implementation of innovative tourism projects promoted from the City of Madrid”, he expressed.
On the instructions of municipal president Marciano Dzul Caamal, the City Hall has launched the website tulumwelcomesyou.travel, installed a touch screen totem at the Center for Tourist Information and Municipal Business Attention and has ventured into the metaverse as part of an ambitious plan for tourism communication on the new internet.
According to the director of Tourism and Economy, based on the exchange of experiences with destinations such as those attending this week’s FITUR, the capital of the Wonders of the Mayan Caribbean is successfully developing a comprehensive digital communication project.
He assured that Tulum is obtaining a multiplier effect on the economy of the ninth municipality and the welfare of families with the launch of official digital platforms that provide confidence and connect travelers with local establishments and services.
“With the support of experts in business and government digitization, we will position the municipality as a precursor in the implementation of digitization programs with a philosophy to zero paper integration. Because Tulum is Tulum, a destination in favor of the environment, sustainable rest and natural connection in a new digital environment,” added the Tulum official.
For the first time in its history, Tulum landed at FITUR with its own space, located in the “America” pavilion of the IFEMA-Madrid exhibition center, a transcendental step for the tourism promotion efforts that year after year bear fruit in the capital of the Wonders of the Mayan Caribbean.
