TULUM, Quintana Roo – Tulum has recently witnessed an initiative aimed at nurturing and protecting the unique brands that embody the essence of this mesmerizing destination. The Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial (Mexican Institute of Industrial Property) conducted an enlightening course for Tulum’s entrepreneurs, artisans, and traders as part of the renowned Hecho en Tulum program. Bady Gómez Soberanis, the director of the municipal economy, unveiled this exciting development and emphasized its significance for the local community.

The primary objective of this program is to provide support and guidance to the creative individuals who have established brands that truly reflect the identity and character of Tulum. A total of 20 beneficiaries have been selected to participate, and they are eligible for an impressive 90% discount on the registration fees associated with their brand protection through the Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial.

“With the invaluable legal certification granted by Hecho en Tulum, our producers, including the talented Mayan artisans from Cobá, can add tremendous value to their carefully crafted products, originating from the heart of the Mayan Caribbean,” stated the enthusiastic official.

For those who aspire to be part of the Hecho en Tulum program, the director of the economy shared the contact details, including the email address ecomonia@tulum.gob and the WhatsApp number 9842161185. This ensures that interested individuals can easily reach out to begin their journey towards brand recognition and protection.

Gómez Soberanis further declared that, under the current administration, local producers will receive comprehensive guidance from the Directorate of Economy. During the recent training session, held last Thursday, participants were enlightened about the paramount importance of safeguarding their brands.

“This opportunity is extended to all the creative minds in our community. We are working closely with the IMPI, providing training and, even better, offering a discount to those who wish to register their brand,” asserted Gómez Soberanis.

He emphasized the significance of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises registering with the IMPI to avail themselves of collective rights and benefits. It is worth noting that the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property serves as the foremost authority in matters of intellectual property across Mexico. The institute possesses various powers to aid intellectual property holders, including the ability to impose fines or even close down any third party infringing on the rights of a brand owner.

As Tulum’s creative individuals embark on this journey of brand protection, their dedication to preserving the authenticity and heritage of their craft shines through. Hecho en Tulum serves as a catalyst for economic growth and cultural appreciation, empowering the local community to thrive in an increasingly competitive market.
