TULUM, Quintana Roo – In accordance with the National Public Security Strategy and to contribute to the National Addiction Prevention Strategy, members of the Guardia Nacional (National Guard) located packages containing apparent cocaine amidst the seaweed in the municipality of Tulum, Quintana Roo.
The discovery took place during routine inspection, security, and crime prevention patrols by the national guards along the beach area of the tourist zone, specifically along the Tulum-Boca Paila coastal road.
The Guardia Nacional personnel noticed that hidden among the rocks and concealed within the seaweed were two rectangular packages, measuring approximately 13 cm wide by 22 cm long, wrapped in plastic bags.
Upon inspecting the contents, they identified that both packages contained white powder with characteristics consistent with the narcotic substance known as cocaine, prompting their immediate seizure.
The seized substance was subsequently handed over to the Federal Public Ministry Agency in the municipality of Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo, for further investigations to determine the type of drug and its exact weight.
The Guardia Nacional reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the well-being of citizens, while also contributing to the Mexican Government’s efforts to ensure peace and security for the population.
