In support of the women of the Mayan zone of Tulum, the City Hall presided over by municipal president Marciano Dzul Caamal is offering a traditional embroidery course for the benefit of 70 women entrepreneurs from Tulum.
Bady Gómez Soberano, director of Economy, informed that this course is being given in the communities of Hondzonot and Chanchen 1 to teach the techniques of fine counted thread in mesh, cotton caneva, chuy kib and double counted thread to women between 25 and 45 years of age.
The official indicated that these actions consolidate the prevalence of cultural identity in the communities of the Mayan zone, through clothing and handmade decorative items that the City Hall promotes at fairs and also on the official municipal website, thus generating a favorable economy for the families of the Mayan artisans.
It is important to add that the courses, which will end on April 1st, were organized by the Direction of Promotion and Transversalization of the Gender Perspective in coordination with the Direction of Municipal Economy.
