Tulum Prepares for a Safe and Festive Independence Day Celebration

TULUM, Mexico – In anticipation of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, Tulum’s Mayor, Diego Castañón Trejo, has announced that municipal, state, federal, and private law enforcement and emergency services are fully prepared to ensure the safety and security of the community.

Mayor Castañón Trejo emphasized that a coordinated surveillance effort will be in place to guarantee peace and tranquility during both the Mexican Independence Night on September 15th and the parade on September 16th.

He noted that Tulum’s Municipal Public Safety and Citizen Protection Secretary, under the leadership of Lieutenant Ricardo Morales Santos, will collaborate with the National Guard, the Navy, the Army, the State Police, Civil Protection, Firefighters, and the Red Cross.

All these entities will remain vigilant to maintain order and peace, not only in the vicinity of the municipal palace square, where thousands are expected to gather for the Grito (Independence Day shout), but also in the tourist zones and residential areas.

Furthermore, Mayor Castañón Trejo urged the community to celebrate in a family-friendly atmosphere, both at the municipal palace and in their homes. He also emphasized responsible alcohol consumption and advised against driving under the influence.

“We will ensure that security is well in place, and we urge citizens to be vigilant and ensure that everything is done in moderation. They should be aware that security is in place to protect the residents,” the mayor stated.

Additionally, he invited the community to attend events at the municipal palace, featuring cultural and culinary attractions before and after the Grito ceremony to enhance the patriotic festivities.

On another note, the mayor reminded the community that on Thursday, September 13th, at 10 a.m. in the double dome of the Sports Complex, he will deliver his government report, presenting the outcomes of his tenure.

It is worth recalling that Mayor Castañón Trejo assumed office in mid-March of the current year, following the passing of Marciano Dzul Caamal.
