TULUM, Mexico – The brand new INFONAVIT center has been inaugurated in response to the efforts made by Mara Lezama in her discussions with the director of the Institute. The aim is to streamline and reduce the requirements for granting loans to women and expedite the process for the thousands of workers who aspire to establish their homes in Quintana Roo, particularly in the municipality. This center, known as CESI, is now open to the public.
The Governor of Quintana Roo emphasized that the opening of these offices closes the gaps of inequality and creates more opportunities for social justice, enabling more workers, both men and women, to realize their dream of owning a home. The success of the tourism industry in the region should translate into shared prosperity for its residents.
She further added that this initiative will foster the growth of Quintana Roo, like no other state in the country, and especially Tulum, which is progressing at an astonishing pace. This will turn the dream of owning a house into a reality and provide dignified living conditions for its residents.
Before officially cutting the inaugural ribbon, Mara Lezama expressed her gratitude to the Director General, Carlos Martínez Velázquez, for responding to the requests made in favor of the people of Quintana Roo, especially women who are beneficiaries of the Women’s INFONAVIT program.
INFONAVIT Services At the Tulum office, policyholders can access various services and products offered by the Institute, including:
- Loan applications
- Consultations and guidance
- Support for borrowers and employers
- Information about temporary programs and campaigns related to the Institute’s products and services.
These services are used to impose a significant burden on families due to the time and effort involved in traveling to Cancún or Chetumal for assistance.
The Director General of INFONAVIT, Carlos Martínez Velázquez, highlighted that this new office will address the rising demand for housing and services resulting from the construction of the Tren Maya. The goal is to enhance the well-being of workers and their families in the region.
“People living near the train can now access all the services and programs offered by INFONAVIT without having to travel to Playa del Carmen. Whether they need a loan to buy, build, expand, or improve their homes or want to convert their unforgiving debt in Minimum Wage Units into pesos, they can do it here,” he stated.
He also mentioned that the new Infonavit Service Center aims to consolidate the efforts of the Institute and Governor Mara Lezama in addressing the housing needs of women in the region. During this administration, the percentage of loans granted to female workers has increased from 30% to 42%.
María de la Luz Salazar Hernández, the President of the Mexican Association of Women Entrepreneurs (AMMJE) Tulum chapter, highlighted that these offices will eliminate the need for workers to travel to other municipalities, not just for administrative procedures but also for housing opportunities, as they can now find all the necessary services right here.
The CESI offices are conveniently located in the Plaza Andador Tulum, on Ookk´ot Street, Libra Norte. Diana María Morales Yepez was the first policyholder to receive assistance at this new center, marking a significant step towards making homeownership more accessible in Tulum.
