Tulum’s Mayor Initiates Construction of Innovative Municipal Cemetery

TULUM, Quintana Roo – The Mayor of Tulum, Diego Castañón Trejo, led the inauguration ceremony on Monday morning, marking the commencement of construction for the first phase of the new municipal cemetery. This endeavor aims to address one of the primary demands of the local community.

Underlining the importance of this initiative, Mayor Diego Castañón emphasized that his administration is committed to delivering tangible outcomes that meet the needs of families. The construction of a new cemetery will provide dignified spaces for loved ones, allowing families to pay their respects in a fitting manner.

“We needed this new project because I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to lay their loved ones to rest and visit them in a dignified place. We don’t make empty promises; we deliver,” expressed Mayor Castañón.

Santos Hipólito Tuz Chi, the Director of Public Works Monitoring, shared technical details about the project. A sum of $3,494,589.12 pesos from the Ramo 28 fund will be invested in the construction of the cemetery wall.

The first phase of the municipal cemetery wall construction project is set to benefit 28,328 residents. It involves clearing the vegetation and building a perimeter wall using masonry foundations.

The Mayor was accompanied by various dignitaries during the inauguration ceremony, including Municipal Syndic María Teresa Arana Sánchez, Councilor Martín Dzib Chimal, Director General of Public Infrastructure Carlos Efraín Yama Moguel, Director General of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development Lorenzo Bernabé Miranda, Director General of Municipal Planning Jesús Alberto Sandy Interian, Municipal Comptroller Aracely Díaz García, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Ricardo Morales Santos, and Director General of Public Services José Audomaro Solís Pacheco.
