The rhythm that Tulum had to date is fifteen deceased per day, which is a very high rate. Three days have passed without homicides, and two generators of violence in the area have already been arrested. More people involved in homicides, drug sales, and distribution are being sought, and suspects are in the process of being detained.

There are still many more to catch, but they are proceeding intelligently and coordinating to avoid affecting innocent people. A thorough investigation is required, and a significant number of people who generate violence in Tulum are being sought by authorities.

The issue of insecurity has been ongoing for three years and is not a recent problem.

Edgar was apprehended at a vehicle checkpoint on the Tulum-Felipe Carrillo Puerto federal highway, where officers saw him weaving on a motorcycle without a helmet, which prompted them to approach him. When the criminal saw the police, he tried to escape, but they caught him.

An inspection revealed a revolver firearm, thirty doses of white powder resembling cocaine, fifteen doses of marijuana, a bag with characteristics of drugs such as pink powder known as ‘Tutsi,’ ten doses of the drug crack known as ‘piedra,’ and ten doses of colored pills that appear to be psychotropic drugs.

The suspect was taken to the facilities of the Attorney General’s Office of Quintana Roo, where they will investigate his legal status regarding his alleged involvement in criminal acts in the state. The drug Edgar possessed is valued at €300 per gram and worth nearly 6,000 Mexican pesos per gram.

The authority did not specify the number of grams he had, but it is said that what was confiscated exceeded 200,000 pesos, only in a bag of the drug known as ‘Tutsi.’ The ‘Tutsi,’ ‘Tusi,’ or ‘pink cocaine’ formula’s primary ingredient is LSD, with a proportion of MDMA. This combination is highly addictive, more than traditional cocaine, causing hallucinogenic effects and a feeling of euphoria, among others.

According to the authority, another effect is that it increases the false sensation of control and improvement of capabilities, which is only a state of nervousness and high excitement.

Oyarvide announced that there will be more federal forces present in the north of Quintana Roo, especially in Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and Cancun, to reinforce security.
