In a significant step towards the consolidation of policies focused on transparency and order, the municipal trustee, the majority of councilwomen and councilmen of Tulum, led by Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo, have approved an agreement that prioritizes the Transparency and Access to Public Information and Personal Data Protection Unit.

At the conclusion of the XLII Ordinary Council Session, Castañón Trejo expressed his satisfaction to the media regarding this momentous decision and highlighted the importance of transparency as a fundamental pillar to eradicate corruption and promote order in the capital of the Mayan Caribbean.

“Transparency is an essential tool to root out corruption and regain the trust of our citizens. By positioning the Transparency and Access to Public Information and Personal Data Protection Unit as a priority in our administration, we are sending a clear message: we are committed to accountability and honesty in our management,” he said.

The mayor emphasized the need to establish a rigorous control system to ensure that public resources are used efficiently and transparently.

“Transparency not only entails providing information to the public but also ensuring that proper control is exercised over resources and that established procedures are followed. This approach will allow us to manage the resources of Tulum efficiently and equitably, guaranteeing the well-being of our citizens,” he added.

With this approval, Section IV bis is added to Article 26 and Article 37 bis in the Regulation of the Public Administration of the Municipality of Tulum, Quintana Roo. Furthermore, Fraction II of Article 39 of the Regulation of the Public Administration of the Municipality of Tulum, Quintana Roo, as well as Fraction II of Article 10 and Article 17, Chapter VII, of the Internal Regulation of the General Office of the Presidency of the Municipality of Tulum, Quintana Roo, are repealed.

“With the municipal trustee and the majority of councilwomen and councilmen, we have taken a firm step towards the construction of a more transparent Tulum with a responsible government,” concluded the mayor.
