Meanwhile, the downtown area of Tulum will see the maximum hours extend to 2:00 am, and the total closing time will be 2:30 am. These extended operating hours are expected to attract more tourists to the area, boosting the local economy.

Strengthened Security Measures

To ensure the safety of tourists and locals, Tulum’s municipal police officers will be joined by 70 Marine Corps officers. This reinforcement will strengthen patrols in tourist and Mayan areas, keeping criminal activity at bay.

Despite these measures, local business owners remain concerned about recent criminal activity in the area. In the last two weeks, there have been eight executions in Tulum, prompting the Riviera Maya Coparmex Business Center to express its concerns to municipal president Diego Castañón.

The center’s president, Marc Pujol, emphasized the potential impact of these events on tourism and called for greater collaboration between the municipality and local businesses. While the center did not provide details on specific security strategies, Pujol stressed the importance of engaging with the business community to ensure the safety and security of tourists and residents alike.
