Traffic Alert: Tulum's Route Shift

TULUM, Mexico – In a coordinated effort between the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development (Sedatu), the government of Quintana Roo state, and the Tulum municipality, important updates regarding nighttime road closures on the Federal Highway 307 Tulum-Akumal, specifically at the north entrance and exit of the city, have been announced. These closures are scheduled to take place on the 27th, 28th, and 29th of October.

The reason behind these temporary road closures is the installation of a metal bridge structure, a crucial component of the Jaguar Park project. This endeavor is spearheaded by Sedatu and is being carried out as part of the Urban Improvement Program (PMU).

In close collaboration with the municipal government, an alternative route has been established, covering a distance of two kilometers, to ensure the safety and convenience of all individuals. This alternative route will be used for both departing from and arriving in the city, and it follows the Tulum-Akumal-Tulum direction. It commences at the entrance to the Archaeological Zone parking lot.

For those traveling from north to south, the alternative entry route will begin at Caleta Tankah. From this point, drivers will follow clear traffic signs to navigate their way into the city.

The following are the scheduled working hours for these crucial operations: On Friday, the 27th of October, a two-hour closure is planned, from 10:00 PM to midnight. On Saturday, the 28th, and Sunday, the 29th, the road closure will extend from 9:00 PM to 8:00 AM.

We express our sincere gratitude for the understanding and cooperation of the community. These measures aim to provide safer and more efficient roadways for residents and visitors alike. Your patience during this period of improvement is greatly appreciated.
