One billion pesos to be invested in eight beach accesses in Tulum

The Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu) of the Federal Government is investing one billion pesos for the adaptation of the “El Jaguar” protection area in Tulum, which includes the opening of about eight accesses to the beach, between the entrance to this city and the archaeological zone.

Ernesto Pavón Gutiérrez, representative of Sedatu in Quintana Roo, commented that the project includes walkways, parking areas, public lighting and administrative offices for the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), so that they can work in more dignified conditions than the current ones.

There are about four kilometers of coastline, where people can access today, but only with trails and nowhere to park.

Sedatu is currently in negotiations with the owners of some of these lands (others are national lands) to obtain permission to open these accesses; there will be no purchase or expropriation, he clarified.

According to the official, there is a good opening by the majority of these owners (almost all of them hotel owners), since the project implies a better access with public lighting.
