EL DORADO, ARK — Anadarko US Offshore LLC (Oxy) and Ridgewood Energy have agreed to participate in the Oso-1EXP (Atwater Valley 138) exploration well in the US Gulf of Mexico.

Murphy Oil will remain the operator with 33.34%, the company said in its latest results statement, and expects drilling to start in the current quarter.

Earlier, the company’s Dalmatian #1 (Desoto Canyon 90) well reached TD, with positive results from initial evaluation.

Six wells are flowing into the Murphy-operated King’s Quay FPS, including the first well from the Samurai Field; the others were drilled in the Khaleesi and Mormont fields.

Their combined production is exceeding expectations at about 120,000 bbl/d, with 85% oil. The oil volumes are close to 20% above original projections.

Previously, Murphy disclosed the discovery of new pay zones while drilling Samurai, which led to identification of a further well opportunity, Samurai #5 (Green Canyon 432), which should spud shortly.

During the third quarter, the company closed its acquisition of an additional 3.4% in the non-operated Lucius Field, and it divested a 50% interest in the operated Thunder Hawk Field.

Offshore Mexico, all permits have come through for the company’s operated Tulum-1EXP (Block 5) exploration well in the Salina Basin, and drilling should soon be underway.

Finally, the company has taken on Wintershall Dea’s 70% interest in the Potiguar Basin offshore Brazil at no cost and now has a 100% interest in its three blocks in the basin.

It has also received approval from Brazil’s ANP agency to serve as an offshore operator.
