First 50 of 200 marines to increase state security land at Cancun International

Cancun, Q.R. — The first 50 of at least 200 marines have landed in Cancun. On Thursday, the first 50 arrived who will be added to the existing marines to help increase security measures across the state.

The agents will be deployed in the municipalities of Tulum, Solidaridad and Benito Juárez (Cancun), and will accompany elements of the Quintana Roo Public Security Secretariat on surveillance tours, in addition to activating special teams with technology and intelligence to combat crime.

Rear Admiral Rubén Oyarvide Pedrero, Secretary of Public Security, received the new marines. The remaining 150 will continue to arrive at the Cancun International Airport in coming days.

Earlier this week, Governor Mara Lezama announced the arrival of at least 200 marines to the state to help strengthen the state’s security
