AMLO Guarantees December Opening for Tulum Airport

TULUM, Mexico – President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) embarked on a visit to Tulum, Quintana Roo, to oversee the progress at the Felipe Carrillo Airport and proudly revealed ongoing work on its finishing touches.

Through his social media account on X, formerly known as Twitter, the national leader shared captivating snapshots from his tour of the aerodrome’s premises.

The footage depicted diligent laborers and military engineers from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) meticulously crafting the intricate elements of the project, slated to be unveiled by year-end.

“Finishing touches are well underway at the terminal of the new Tulum International Airport, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, in Quintana Roo. We’re set to inaugurate it in December,” affirmed López Obrador on September 23.

Situated on a sprawling expanse of 1,200 hectares in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Tulum’s airport is poised to become the second-largest in the Yucatán Peninsula. Designed to accommodate an annual demand of 4 million passengers, it will also host a versatile military airbase, bolstering national airspace security.

The airport boasts a wide array of amenities, including parking facilities, food outlets, commercial and service areas, accessibility for persons with disabilities, children’s play areas, ATMs, car rentals, and internet access.

Within the commercial precinct, visitors can indulge in shopping for travel essentials, perusing jewelry, savoring fast food, browsing artisanal wares, souvenir hunting, pharmaceutical needs, and much more.
