TULUM, MĂ©xico – United Airlines is expanding its services in Mexico, introducing a new non-stop route from Denver International Airport to Tulum. This addition positions United as the leading airline in offering the most international destinations from Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport.
In November last year, United announced its inaugural routes to Tulum, including services from Newark, Houston-Intercontinental, and Chicago. Additionally, a seasonal service to Los Angeles was introduced. During the peak summer season, the airline will operate five daily flights, contributing to a weekly offering of 12,250 seats.
The Denver to Tulum route, set to commence on December 19, 2024, features daily flights. Flight UA 1698 will depart Denver at 09:45 and arrive in Tulum at 15:43. The return flight, UA 1699, will leave Tulum at 16:50, reaching Denver at 19:10. These routes will be serviced by Boeing 737-900ER aircraft, equipped with 179 seats, including 20 in Business Class and 159 in Economy Plus and Economy.
Tulum marks United’s fifth Mexican destination from Denver, joining existing services to CancĂºn, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, and San JosĂ© del Cabo. For the 2024/2025 winter season, United will offer a total of 22,294 weekly seats between Denver and various destinations in Mexico.
This expansion is significant for both United Airlines and the region of Tulum. It not only bolsters United’s presence in Mexico but also enhances Tulum’s connectivity with major cities in the United States, potentially boosting tourism and economic growth in the area. Tulum, known for its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and historical significance, including the famous Mayan ruins, is a popular destination for travelers seeking a blend of relaxation and exploration.
United’s strategic expansion in Mexico, particularly at a time when air travel is rebounding post-pandemic, indicates a strong confidence in the growth potential of the region. This move aligns with the airline’s broader strategy to increase its footprint in key tourist destinations, catering to the rising demand for leisure travel.
Moreover, the introduction of these new routes is expected to provide more options and flexibility for travelers, enhancing the overall customer experience. The decision to use Boeing 737-900ER aircraft for these routes underscores United’s commitment to offering a comfortable and efficient travel experience for its passengers. These aircraft are known for their reliability and comfort, making them an ideal choice for the medium-haul routes to Tulum.
The development is also a positive sign for the local economy in Tulum. Increased air connectivity often leads to a rise in tourist inflow, which can significantly benefit local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions. It also offers residents of Tulum more options for international travel, directly from their region.
For Denver, this new route expands its role as a key aviation hub in the United States. The addition of Tulum to its list of destinations enhances the airport’s portfolio, offering more variety for travelers, and strengthening economic ties with Mexico.
