TULUM, Mexico – The Eco-Bahía Ecological Foundation proudly celebrates the closure of the 2023 Sea Turtle Season at Playa Aventuras DIF, a crucial stretch of coastline in front of Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Resort and Tulum Country Club. With over two decades dedicated to the protection of these marine species, the Foundation highlights the achievements of the year, safeguarding 457 Loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) nests and 1,705 Green turtles (Chelonia mydas) nests. Additionally, more than 191,000 hatchlings were successfully released into their natural habitat.

The unwavering commitment of the Eco-Bahía Foundation to sea turtle conservation has received steadfast support from various departments within the Complex. In acknowledgment and gratitude for this vital support, a special season-closure event took place on December 8, 2023, at the “Playa Tulum” Lookout, gathering collaborators, volunteers, and nature enthusiasts.

During the event, Yuritzi Espino, the Manager of the Ecological Foundation, shared these words:

“The successful conclusion of the 2023 Sea Turtle Season not only marks a milestone in our conservation mission as one of our flagship programs but also underscores the power of collaboration. We want to express our sincere gratitude to all collaborators for their dedication and tireless efforts. Your support has been instrumental in ensuring the success of our conservation programs.”
