The root of this issue lies in the exorbitant fees charged for taxi and shuttle services at the new Tulum airport. The disparity in these fees is substantial, with taxi drivers at Tulum airport charging up to 1,000 pesos for departures. Those wishing to travel to more distant destinations like Bacalar face even steeper costs, with prices reaching around 10,000 pesos.
