A person was murdered inside a Starbucks located in Tulum while attempting to be robbed. Their companion was wounded by a firearm, as was the person who attempted to rob them, who is currently hospitalized and in police custody, along with two other individuals, according to authorities in Quintana Roo.
The incident occurred at noon yesterday. The report made to the 911 emergency number indicated the armed attack inside the establishment, located on Satélite avenue with Okot street, in the downtown area of the town; the information included the existence of two injured victims and one more, identified as the attacker, who required hospitalization.
According to the version disseminated today by the State Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the Tulum Municipal Police responded to the call and the officers found that one person was dead and another injured.
In addition, it has been reported that the attacker had a criminal record and that the firearm used in the robbery had been reported as stolen in the neighboring state of Yucatán. The injured individuals were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention, and their current condition is unknown.
The incident has sparked outrage and concern among the residents and visitors of Tulum, a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful beaches and archaeological sites. Local authorities have vowed to increase security measures in the area to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
It is important to note that acts of violence and crime can happen anywhere, even in seemingly safe places such as coffee shops or tourist destinations. It is crucial to remain vigilant and take precautions to ensure personal safety, especially when traveling to unfamiliar places.
Three criminals were apprehended following a chase
Additionally, another injured individual was located, wearing a fluorescent green shirt and believed to have participated in the robbery of the two victims by shooting them inside the coffee shop, as reported by the state agency.
That person was rescued by others in a black Malibu-type car, prompting police officers to pursue them. The vehicle headed to the local Costamed hospital, where the injured person was to receive medical attention.
As the person was being transported on a stretcher, the officers who were already there requested identification, to which he identified himself as Luis “N.” He was informed that he was under arrest for his alleged involvement in the crimes of murder and attempted murder.
The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) opened an investigation into the murder of one person, mentioning only the injured person, who is the probable assailant hospitalized, as well as two others arrested by the SSP.
An unofficial version suggests that the murdered person was a businessman and his companion, a bodyguard, but this has not been confirmed by the authorities.
It is worth noting that the pursuit and subsequent arrests were made possible through the efficient and effective actions of law enforcement personnel, who demonstrated their commitment to maintaining public safety and upholding the law. The quick response and swift action taken by these officers serve as a testament to the professionalism and dedication of those who serve in the police force.

Such agencies must be adequately funded, trained, and equipped to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently.
