The history of Tomorrowland

In the early 2000s, electronic music began to gain popularity in the world. The brothers Manu and Michiel Beers, who worked in an event organizing company, launched the first Tomorrowland in August 2005 in the municipality of Boom, Belgium.

While there was uncertainty about the event’s continuity, the promoters gave the go-ahead to continue the following year, with a better stage and music equipment. Thanks to this, and to the viralization of
the festival grew from 9,000 to 15,000 attendees.

The following two years served to position the brand in the music world, since foreigners traveled to Boom to enjoy the event. But in 2009 the idea arose to change the theme of the main stage so that it would not become monotonous.

Also, little by little, more festival venues emerged: France, Spain, the United States and Brazil.

Thus, the event began to grow like foam, and thus became one of the most relevant music festivals in the world.

Tomorrowland in Mexico

Although there was already a history of Tomorrowland’s presence in Mexico with the
Unite with Tomorrowland, where it is transmitted via satellite what happens in Belgium, in Tulum during the Zamna Festival, it will be the first time that the event sets foot on Aztec (or, rather, Mayan) land.

Zamna Festival was born in 2017 as a project that brings together the best artists in the Mexican Caribbean. The idea of this project is for them to live an immersive experience surrounded by the natural beauty of the Quintana Roo jungle and the music they enjoy the most.

For its presentation, Tomorrowland will bring the CORE stage, which was born in 2017 and gradually won the affection of the public, thanks to the participation of techno and house musicians.

At the moment, Cellini, Vintage Culture, Nina Kraviz and Marceo Plex are confirmed.
