
Ready, Set, Go! Tulum’s 21K Marathon Takes Off
TULUM, Mexico – In a press conference that buzzed with excitement and anticipation, the official jersey and the call for the first Tulum Half Marathon 21K 2023 were unveiled. This prestigious event is organized by the Tulum City Council in collaboration with the private sector. It promises to be an elite sporting experience, with 500 athletes expected to participate on the 26th of November. This event not only showcases athletic prowess but also foresees a significant boost to the local economy.
Representing the Mayor, Diego Castañón Trejo, Rodrigo López Hernández, the Director of Youth and Sports, emphasized the Mayor’s commitment to fostering and promoting sports in the community. This marathon is a prime opportunity for Tulum to shine, and he expressed his gratitude to all the sponsors who have joined hands to make this event a success.

Jesús Ricardo Gómez Flores, the athletics coach, then provided a comprehensive overview of the logistics for the 21K 2023 Half Marathon:
Event Date: The marathon is scheduled for the 26th of November, and it will kick off from Central Park at 6:15 a.m. A total of 500 athletes are expected to participate, with 80 individuals already registered. Registrations will remain open until all slots are filled.
Race Categories: The marathon features two categories, the 21-kilometer and 5-kilometer races, each designed to cater to various age groups. The categories include:
- Open Category: Encompassing participants aged 18 to 29.
- Submaster Category: Designed for those aged between 30 to 39.
- Master Category: Welcoming participants aged 40 to 49.
- Veterans Category: Open to individuals aged 50 to 59.
- Veteran Pro Category: Specifically for runners aged 60 and above.
- Inclusive Category: The event also aims to be inclusive by introducing a wheelchair category.
Prizes: The Half Marathon 21K 2023 will honor the top three finishers in each category. In the 5-kilometer race, awards will be given to the top three overall winners. Additionally, a special prize of $25,000 awaits the first male and female participants to cross the finish line.
