Rally Maya 2025 ignites classic car passion in Tulum

Tulum hosted the start of Rally Maya 2025, a classic car event that promotes tourism, culture, and social responsibility across southeastern Mexico.

With the soft hum of finely tuned engines and the quiet anticipation of a gathering steeped in tradition, the Tulum Country Club opened its gates to host the official launch of the 2025 Rally Maya México. The scene was elegant and exciting as entrepreneurs, classic car aficionados, and seasoned drivers came together to mark the beginning of this beloved automotive journey through the Yucatán Peninsula.

Now entering its eleventh year, the Rally Maya México has long transcended its identity as a spartan race. It celebrates heritage, craftsmanship, camaraderie, and cultural pride. This year’s route charts over 1,000 kilometers, winding from Tulum to Mérida with stops in Chetumal, Bacalar, Champotón, Campeche, and Sotuta de Peón. Along the way, 80 vintage automobiles—each a meticulously preserved artifact of the past—will cruise in three categories, guided by national and international drivers. The event has rightfully earned its nickname: a rolling museum.

Rodrigo Villanueva Aguirre, President of Rally Maya México, emphasized the event’s significance in his opening remarks. “This is not just a race,” he stated with conviction. “It’s a platform that drives tourism, stimulates the economy, and supports regional philanthropy. Each edition gives us a new chance to share the magnificence of southeastern Mexico with the world.”

The Tulum Country Club, proud host of this year’s opening ceremony, welcomed the opportunity to showcase its world-class amenities and values. Rodrigo E. Padilla, Communications & Corporate Liaison, spoke of the deep alignment between the club’s philosophy and the spirit of the rally. “We are honored to serve as the departure point for an event that perfectly mirrors our values of elegance, sustainability, and global community,” he shared. “Introducing participants to the PGA Riviera Maya course, our infrastructure, and the harmonious balance between luxury and environment has been nothing short of extraordinary.”

The launch event at the club’s Casa Club revealed the full route of the 2025 edition and included a driver briefing outlining safety regulations and guidelines. Yet the experience was far more than procedural—it was celebratory.

Among the highlights was the 9th RMM Golf Tournament, staged at the PGA Riviera Maya, a par-72 championship course designed by Robert Trent Jones II. Widely regarded by the PGA of America as one of Mexico’s premier courses, it delivered a challenging and memorable experience for participants. Natural cenotes, jungle terrain, and serene lakes made the game not just a competition but a journey through a living landscape.

The club also hosted an exhibition of the rally’s classic vehicles, followed by a welcome dinner and informal gathering with members of the press and distinguished guests. These moments of conviviality added depth to the occasion, reminding all present that while the rally centers on cars, it is ultimately about people—about connection, community, and a shared passion for excellence.

Since its inception in 2013, the Rally Maya México has covered more than 10,800 kilometers, touched 340 communities, and generated over 200 million pesos in economic activity. But beyond the numbers lies a steadfast commitment to social responsibility. Past editions have raised funds and awareness for vital causes, including donating wheelchairs, bicycles, and hearing aids to vulnerable populations throughout the region.

More than a starting line, it has become a beacon for high-level events that merge lifestyle, philanthropy, and cultural celebration. The event reaffirms the club’s growing stature as one of the region’s most prominent residential and tourism complexes.

The road ahead winds through history, through landscapes both storied and spirited. For participants and spectators alike, the 2025 Rally Maya México promises more than a route—it offers a ride through memory, tradition, and a shared future.
