Mayor Diego Castañón Empowers Local Sporting Talent with Municipal Scholarships in Tulum

In a significant gesture to promote local sporting talent, Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo awarded municipal sports scholarships to young athletes from Tulum this Thursday. The first beneficiary of this initiative was Emiliano Escalante Pérez, a distinguished member of the Judo academy, who received a $10,000 peso scholarship as financial support to enhance his physical and sporting preparation.

In a special event dedicated to recognizing and supporting Tulum’s athletes, the Mayor congratulated the athletes present and urged them to continue achieving outstanding results in state, national, and international competitions. Furthermore, he reaffirmed his administration’s firm commitment to supporting sports in its entirety.

“Today, these scholarships represent a significant achievement in our community. We are providing greater opportunities for young people to continue their studies because we recognize the importance of education. We wish for them to forge a successful future and build a solid sporting career. We have exceptional athletes, and we are one hundred percent committed to supporting them because I am also a sports enthusiast,” stated the Mayor.

During the ceremony, Rodrigo López Hernández, Director of Youth and Sports, emphasized the importance of these scholarships in strengthening sports in Tulum. He highlighted that the municipality is renowned as the birthplace of great sporting talents and underscored the importance of continuing to promote sports and achieve outstanding results.

The scholarships awarded, with an amount of $10,000 pesos, covered the months from January to May, providing consistent financial support to the selected athletes.

The event was attended by Mayor Diego Castañón, Municipal Syndic María Teresa Arana Sánchez, Councilor Fany Gallegos Sánchez, Treasurer Vicente Francisco Aldape Moncada, Director of Income Grisel Olianet Matheus García, as well as excited parents and athletes grateful for this invaluable support. The gathering was yet another testament to the municipal government’s commitment and dedication to promoting sports and nurturing the young talents of Tulum.
