On Saturday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador expressed his enthusiasm for the Mayan Train project during his tour of the southeast region of Mexico. The President referred to the project as a “dream” that will soon become a reality.

The President took to social media to share a photo of the lagoons in the area where the new International Airport of Tulum, Quintana Roo, is being constructed. He informed his followers that he had spent two days touring the construction sites of the Mayan Train project, accompanied by Governor María Elena Lezama Espinosa of Quintana Roo.

During his tour, the President inspected sections 4 (Izamal-Cancún) and 5 (Cancún-Tulum) to verify the progress of the project. The Mayan Train is a major infrastructure project that will connect important tourist destinations and stimulate economic development in the region.

As the construction of the Mayan Train continues, President López Obrador’s visit demonstrates his commitment to ensuring the success of this ambitious project.

Recently, high-ranking officials of the Mexican government visited the construction sites of the Mayan Train, a major infrastructure project aimed at boosting tourism and economic growth in the southern region of the country. The tours were attended by the Secretaries of Welfare and Environment and Natural Resources, the General Director of the National Fund for Tourism Development, the Secretaries of National Defense and Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development, the General Director of the National Institute of Anthropology and History, the Undersecretary of Expenditures of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the Honorary Supervisor of the Mayan Train, and other public servants.

The Mayan Train project is an important initiative for Mexico, and the government’s involvement in monitoring the progress of construction demonstrates their commitment to the success of the project. As construction continues, it is anticipated that the Mayan Train will help drive economic development and create new opportunities for businesses and communities throughout the region.

The Mayan Train is a vital infrastructure project spearheaded by the Mexican Government, which will boast a 1,554-kilometer route linking five southeastern states: Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan, and Quintana Roo. With a grand total of 40 municipalities and 181 localities in its path, the project aims to significantly improve connectivity and transportation throughout the region.

Despite its immense potential for growth and development, the Mayan Train has faced opposition from environmentalists, archaeologists, and spelunkers alike. Concerns have been raised over the potential destruction of natural habitats, the disturbance of archaeological sites, and the obliteration of underground caves during construction.
