Tulum trains its police officers to defend gender equality

On Orange Day, which serves to prevent and combat all forms of violence against girls, adolescents and women, the Secretary of Public Safety and Citizen Protection of Tulum, Rafael Martínez Ruiz, emphasized that the work of the police is fundamental because they are the first responders in cases of violence, so they must be trained and sensitive to avoid revictimization.

Accompanied by members of the city council, the police chief emphasized that the work on gender issues will be strengthened through more training, more personnel and better tools.

This was during the roll call of the elements of the police force, which received recognition for its work in protecting victims of violence, by the director of Gender Equality, Anahí Bates Dzib.

The event was also attended by the delegate of the Attorney for the Defense of Children and Adolescents, Astrid Suárez Chulim; the delegate of the IQM, Marlene Pacheco and the director of the Family Protection Office of DIF Tulum, Cristian Canxoc, among others.
