TULUM, Mexico – In a significant development for the thriving municipality, Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo expressed his gratitude for the initiatives undertaken by the Government of Mexico. Foremost among these projects is the establishment of the new Jaguar Park, an area that not only preserves natural treasures but also contributes to the transformative essence of Tulum.
In a video shared on his social media platforms, Mayor Castañón Trejo extended his thanks to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa for their unwavering commitment to the natural reserve and the progress of the ninth municipality. Emphasizing the inclusivity and accessibility of the new Jaguar Park, he outlined the project’s multifaceted approach.
“We will have a new natural reserve, and through cultural, recreational, and tourist attractions, every resident of Tulum will have access to this project brimming with natural riches. Maya culture is in harmony with transformation. Tulum evolves,” he declared.
Mayor Castañón Trejo took a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the effective coordination achieved with the Secretary of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development, Román Meyes Falcón. From the project’s inception, Secretary Falcón has shown a keen interest in Tulum, overseeing the construction process.
According to the Mexican Government, the Jaguar Park is a dedicated initiative for the preservation and conservation of this magnificent feline. Encompassing approximately 2,913 hectares, it includes the Tulum National Park (TNP) and the Jaguar Flora and Fauna Protection Area. This ambitious project signifies not just environmental stewardship but also a commitment to cultural enrichment and sustainable tourism, positioning Tulum at the forefront of harmonizing nature and progress.
