The instruction of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is to respect the constructions within the Tulum National Park, but no longer allow new works, Román Meyer Falcón, head of the Secretary of Territorial, Agrarian and Urban Development (Sedatu), asserted today.
In an interview, during a visit to this municipality, to verify the progress of the El Jaguar National Park, which includes the one in Tulum, the federal secretary mentioned that they are already in negotiations with the tenants of the area, to improve access to that area, in addition to increasing access to the sea, which will go from four to seven.
He emphasized that they must send a very clear message that, although they will respect what has been done, they will not allow more construction in the national park. In this sense, he pointed out that there are already two buildings at the entrance to the park with seals from the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa).
About the new park, Meyer Falcón pointed out that the first stage is practically finished, which implies the perimeter fence, service module and bike path.
As of January, they will start with the second stage, which includes the formation of an internal one, with its service modules, a south access at the junction of Cobá avenue, and the accesses to beaches, which will be the result of "a political negotiation with all parties involved, to find an order for all services”.
Then it will touch the central access, to the north, at the Marina airstrip, where there will be a parking lot, access to a hotel, INAH museum, botanical garden, butterfly garden, and administrative offices.
